Just when you most need it...

Hello Monday warriors!

Mick Jagger had it right when he wailed that you can’t always get what you want, but sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.

This week has been a prime example of that sentiment.

I started last week in a deliriously happy, although somewhat shocked, state of mind and have now mellowed into pleasantly hazy acceptance.

I have been blessed with some truly lovely customers and people in general this week, The Man has gained himself a new nick name, Dalai Lama, for his unfailing ability to stop me obsessing and worrying. Who knew he was so darned philosophical?!

It’s nice when people are nice right? I’m aware that sounds rather trite but I stand by the mawkish tone of that statement. Sometimes getting a little smile from a lady who’s immaculately turned out, shopping for a new frock with her walker and clearly pushing her 90th birthday is enough to brighten my day immeasurably.  I’ve had so much advice given since the start of last week that I’m swimming in ideas and massively generous offers of time and skill from people.  I am humbled by people’s generosity of spirit and genuine interest and happiness.

I think we all need that little reminder sometimes; the world isn’t such a bad place. People are inherently good.

I’m looking forward to the season of goodwill with a new optimism and excitement. I think it’s probably safe to mention Christmas now right? I mean its November, so I don’t feel like the shop that starts playing carols in September at least.

I love Christmas, I don’t say that flippantly. I mean, I LOVE Christmas. I know it’s a religious celebration but I think we can all enjoy it for its real roots, Family. That’s what it is to me. Look at it objectively and the Nativity is about a family starting.

I can’t wait to spend time with my Nan, my Aunts and Uncles, Sister and Parents. Not to mention all the new family! It’s wonderful to take time each year to really stop and look around yourself and remember what you’ve got.

And ask for a new jumper, Knitwear is a basic human right.

also for Penguins...
